With an Honours degree in Photomedia from COFA and a strong CV in the Art arena, it is no surprise that photographer, Olivia Martin McGuire has held an artist -in-residency in Shanghai and received several grants, by the Australian China Council, to travel and exhibit in north and south China. During this time she was also chosen to hold an exhibition at The International Photo Festival Linzahou, where only twelve photographers were invited to exhibit.
Having also had an artist-in-residency with the Brisbane City Council and QUT, where she was commissioned to document 'The Subtropical Essence of Birsbane', Olivia was also hung at The Museum of Brisbane and various regional galleries.
Amongst many group shows, Olivia has also held solo shows at Lens Gallery and Maunsell Hughes Gallery In Woollahra, NSW, Australia.
Last year Olivia was hosted by The Indian Tourism Board to travel through Kerala to shoot promotional material to advertise the area. Whilst there she had the opportunity to shoot some personal work centred around a 'hip' ashram where she documented devotees from both India and various other parts of the world.
Recently Olivia was shortlisted for The Head On Exhibition and The Moran Prize.
With an incredible acceptance of her photography, both internationally and in Australia, Olivia's interests find her always moving quickly into other varied and exciting fields and she presently finds her work moving toward fashion and the 'kooky' ad arena with strong portraits, her bent on locations and her strength to see the merging of both.
